Volgograd Region: 15 colony inmates commit self-mutilation

Fifteen prisoners of Corrective Colony No. 19, located in the town of Surovikino in the Volgograd Region, have injured themselves in protest against confiscation of prohibited items from them, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) has reported today.

According to the FSIN, in the morning on September 15, a routine inspection was conducted in the dungeon of the colony; and such prohibited items like tea, rope and cigarettes were confiscated.

Some time later after the search, 15 dungeon inmates cut their wrists with a splinter of a light bulb. None of them needed hospitalization – the cuts were not deep, the IA "V1" reports referring to the press service of the FSIN department for the region.
