Sochi ski resorts raise prices for New Year holidays by more than a third

For the period of the New Year holidays, the alpine resorts of the Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi have increased the cost of ski passes by an average of 30-40%. The press service of the ski resort "Roza Khutor", which will open its slopes on December 26, has attributed their higher prices to a large inflow of tourists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 22, Dmitry Kozak, a Russian Vice-Premier, said that all the rooms and beds at Sochi ski resort had been booked for the New Year's holidays; and the demand was 1.5 times higher than the capacity. In this regard, the authorities of the KrasnodarTerritory were forced to restrict the inflow of tourists.

In their turn, the ski resorts have limited the volume of freely sold ski passes and increased the cost thereof.

Thus, the "Roza Khutor" resort will restrict the sale of ski passes from December 31 to January 9. As for prices, from December 26 to January 11 the cost of an adult ski pass for the whole day will make 2650 roubles. After the holidays, the price will be 1850 roubles and remain at that level till the end of the winter season, the TASS reported on December 24.
