Journalists begin returning to restored House of Press in Grozny
Today, Grozny reopens the House of Press, which was damaged during the special operation against militants on December 4. Journalists of "Molodyozhnaya Smena" (Youth Generation) have already returned to their offices in the building; the remaining tenants plan to do in the coming days, said a source from the Grozny administration. The marketplace "Berkat" has partially resumed its work.
On the night of December 4 militants attacked policemen in Grozny. The Chechen capital was put under the counterterrorist operation regime. Most of the attackers took refuge in the House of Press, and some of them – in School No. 20; both buildings were blocked. The fight resulted in 11 killed members of the armed underground, 14 lost power agents and two civilians; 36 law enforcers were wounded.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in total over 800 people, including civil servants, took part in the repair and reconstruction works that were conducted on the round-the-clock basis.
A source from the Ministry for National Policy, Press and Information of Chechnya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that to date all the restoration works in the House of Press have been completed.
