Court reduces by one year prison term of Astrakhan ex-Mayor Stolyarov
Today, the Astrakhan Regional Court has reduced the prison term of the temporarily dismissed Astrakhan Mayor Mikhail Stolyarov, convicted of bribery, from 10 to 9 years.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the Astrakhan Regional Court held an appellate review of the sentence to Mikhail Stolyarov, who was sentenced on November 5 to 10 years in a high security colony on charges of bribery. At the beginning of the session, the court decided to reject the petition of the defence to re-question the main prosecution witness Khvalyk.
Following the session, the above court decided to reduce Stolyarov's imprisonment from 10 to 9 years. The rest of the sentence was left unchanged, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the courtroom.
Let us remind you that according to the prosecution, in October 2013, Stolyarov, while being the Mayor, demanded 10 million roubles from entrepreneur Hvalyk for assistance in allocation of a land plot, and a share in the statute capital of the latter's company. Stolyarov has treated the proposal of money to him as a successful provocation and refused to plead guilty.
