Suspected militant killed and policeman wounded during CTO in Chechnya
Today in the morning, in the Sunzha District of Chechnya, an unidentified person opened fire at policemen: a special-force agent was wounded. The attacker was shot dead by response fire and was pre-identified as a member of the Makhauri grouping. The district was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime.
"Today, at about 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, in the settlement of Sernovodsk, Sunzha District, policemen were shelled by an unidentified gunman, who wounded a special agent and hid in one of the houses," the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has reported.
"The bandit who found shelter in the house refused to lay down arms and was killed in a shootout," the "Interfax" quotes the NAC.
"He has been pre-identified as one of active members of the Makhauri grouping, involved in a number of terrorist crimes in Chechnya and Ingushetia," the RIA "Novosti" quotes the NAC's message.
