"Nairit" workers to go on with protest actions
On December 26, employees of the "Nairit" Factory failed to meet officials from the presidential administration of Armenia. They decided to continue their protests until the completion of drawing up the payroll schedule; the next action will take place on December 29.
Let us remind you that that on December 26 about 500 employees of the "Nairit" gathered outside the presidential residence with a demand to repay their wage debts.
Workers were chanting: "Salary!", "President!" "We'll present our demand – to pay our salaries," said Mavrik Parsiyan, one of the workers.
According to his story, if they do not fight today, they will not be able to do it later, the "News.am" reports.
It was expected that the members of the workers' coordination group would meet Vigen Stepanyan, the head of the presidential administration. However, none of the administration staff came out to meet the protesters.
Let us also note here that on December 19 the coordination group sent a letter to factory bosses containing proposals to the Government of Armenia on solving the problem of salary debts to "Nairit" workers. In particular, they offered to sell the 40% stake in the joint Armenian-Chinese enterprise "Shanxi-Nairit" belonging to the government.
