Volgograd commemorates victims of December 2013 terror acts
On Monday, Volgograd commemorated the victims of the terror acts that occurred on December 29 and 30, 2013, in the building of the railway station and in a trolleybus. Some "disturbing atmosphere" is felt in the city, said Natalia Lyakhova, the Chief Physician of Hospital No. 25.
Andrei Bocharov, the Governor of the Volgograd Region, laid flowers at the memorial plaque installed at the railway station "Volgograd-I" in memory of the victims of the terror act that occurred there on December 29, 2013.
At the railway station, near the memorial plaque, it is also planned to light 18 candles. Relatives and friends of the victims, and city residents will hold a minute of silence; and priests will serve a memorial service, the News Agency "Height 102" reports with reference to the Volgograd Mayoralty.
On December 29, 2013, victims of the terror act at the station were mostly taken to Hospital No. 25, where 10 surgery rooms were opened immediately after the terror act, said Natalia Lyakhova.
According to her story, traumas of their patients "were close to military ones," being "traumas typical for mine explosions." The last patient was discharged from the hospital in late January this year.
According to the press service of the administration of the Volgograd Region, after the terror acts, psychological help was rendered to 59 victims and relatives of the casualties and 157 relatives of the casualties and injured ones.
