PFPA activist Etibar Fatiev arrested in Azerbaijan
Etibar Fatiev, the head of the Sabirabad District Branch of the youth organization of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) was sentenced to 30 days of administrative arrest after he was found guilty of petty hooliganism and disobeying to the police. The PFPA believes that the arrest was politically motivated.
"The Sabirabad district branch of the youth wing of our party was established a few months ago, and its third activist is now arrested," Gezyal Bairamly, the deputy chairman of the PFPA, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to her story, the Sabirabad branch was chosen as a target not by chance, because the district has been notable for strong position of PFPA supporters.
Bairamly said that in summer another activist Murad Adilov was arrested on criminal charges of drug dealing. "Later, another activist Miraga Abbasov was sentenced to 25 days of administrative arrest. And on December 29, Etibar Fatiev was arrested. He has been brought to administrative liability under false accusation and under testimonies of false witnesses," said Bairamly.
The Sabirabad District Police Division has confirmed the arrest of Fatiev for 30 days, saying that he was taken into custody for "administrative offenses."
