In Krasnodar Territory, Dagestani resident sentenced to 10.5 years in prison for extorting money for militants
In the Krasnodar Territory, the court has sentenced a native of Kaspiysk to 10.5 years of imprisonment for extortion of money from a Kuban resident to finance an illegal armed formation (IAF). His three accomplices were sentenced to 4.5-9 years of imprisonment, the press service of the Chief Department for the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports.
According to investigators, in July 2013, a native of Kaspiysk demanded 100,000 roubles from a resident of the city of Labinsk of the Krasnodar Territory. The organizer of a criminal grouping planned to spend the funds to buy food and medicines for his IAF.
"The man escaped from the racketeer; however, the latter did not reject the plan. To achieve his goal, he brought together three of his friends, found the victim and used forced against him again demanding to bring money. Then, fearing for his health, the victim agreed to bring the racketeers a half of the demanded amount. On the appointed day, the defendants came to the house of the victim, where they were detained by policemen," the official website of the Chief Department for the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian MIA reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 19, in Makhachkala, unidentified persons used a grenade launcher to shell the house of Magomed Rasulov, a bus station director. The attackers shelled the roof of the house. No one was hurt in the incident.
