Second casualty of special operation in Naur District of Chechnya identified

The second person killed in the special operation conducted in the Chechen village of Mekenskaya was identified as Bashir Omarov. According to the republic’s law enforcement bodies, Omarov and one of the leaders of local militants Musa Zavgaev, also killed today in Mekenskaya, were natives of the same village.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that two members of the armed underground, who had found refuge in a blocked house, were killed in Mekenskaya; one of them was identified as Musa Zavgaev, the leader of the militants of the Nadterechny and Naur Districts.

His accomplice, Bashir Omarov, was, like Zavgaev, a native of the village of Rubezhnoe, the Naur District of Chechnya, says the website of the local MIA.

Omarov was wanted on suspicion of committing grave crimes, said Ruslan Alkhanov, the head of the Chechen MIA, as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".

According to power agents, both casualties were associated with Tagilov, "the leader of the western sector", who was directly involved in the attack on Grozny on December 4, 2014, which claimed the lives of 14 law enforcers, 11 militants and two civilians.
