Chechen authorities announce new tactic to combat militants
The new tactics to combat the armed underground in Chechnya assumes a personal search of each wanted person by each individual official, said the press service of the head of the republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 1 two men were killed in the village of Mekenskaya, who had taken refuge in a local house, which was blocked by power agents; one of the casualties was identified as Musa Zavgaev, the leader of the militants of the Nadterechny and Naur Districts; the second one – as his accomplice Bashir Omarov. According to power agents, they both were associated with the grouping involved in the attack on Grozny on December 4, 2014.
After this special operation, the Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said that now every commander should be personally involved in searching for a particular member of the armed underground. "His task is to detain or liquidate the bandit, no matter where he is. However, the usual operative-and-search work is not abandoned," the press service of the head of the republic reports.
According to Kadyrov, "this is an effective method," which would "completely clean Chechnya from bandits," says the website of the head and the government of the Chechen Republic.
Kadyrov has addressed relatives of members of the armed underground urging them to persuade militants to lay down their arms and surrender to law enforcement bodies, his press office reports.
