Native of Dagestan Magomed Aliev left in custody until February 13
Court in Stavropol has extended, until February 13, the detention of a Dagestani student Magomed Aliev, accused of promoting terrorism. Now Aliev, in his poor health condition, is in SIZO (pre-trial prison) of Pyatigorsk, where he receives no medical treatment, his relatives assert.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomed Aliev, a native of Dagestan and a student of the Stavropol Medical Academy, was detained on November 21 on suspicion of recruiting mercenaries to the war in Syria. On November 27, he was brought from the SIZO to the city hospital, where doctors removed a ballpoint pen out of his eye.
According to Aliev's sister Djamilya Ibragimova, her brother's health condition has deteriorated. "He has constant headaches; the right-hand side of the head and face are numb. He cannot write; and his motion coordination is violated. I asked the investigator to return Magomed to hospital after the trial, but he said that Magomed will stay in the Pyatigorsk SIZO until January 5," she said.
The interrupted treatment and constant travels can be detrimental to his health, said Amina Alieva, another Magomed's sister.
According to Djamilya Ibragimova, on December 31, the court extended the custody not only of Aliev, but also of five other persons under investigation of the case of recruiting militants to Syria.
