Two soldiers killed and one wounded in Karabakh conflict zone

Two servicemen of the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) were killed and another one wounded in response to diversions from the Azerbaijani party, said the NKR's Ministry of Defence (MoD).

According to the MoD, at night on January 3, two attempts of sabotage and reconnaissance actions were undertaken by the Azerbaijani party along the contact line in the southern and eastern directions.

"The advance units of the NKR reacted promptly; and the Azerbaijani subversive group retreated with losses," said the press service of the NKR's Defence Army, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

On the part of the NKR, two soldiers – Karen S. Grigoryan and Vardan M. Mkrtchyan – were killed; and another soldier, Volodya G. Arutyunyan, was wounded.

An investigation is underway to clear out the details of the incident.

Let us remind you that also on December 25 the MoD of the NKR reported about an attempt of penetration of a subversive group of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces at the contact line. Then, Karabakh militaries suffered no losses.
