US urge Karabakh conflict parties to refrain from hostilities
The US State Department has expressed its concern over the armed incidents between the parties to the Karabakh conflict and urged Armenia and Azerbaijan to refrain from hostilities.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nagorno-Karabakh claimed two attempts of sabotage on the frontline committed by the Azerbaijani soldiers at night of January 3. Two Karabakh soldiers were killed, and another was wounded. Azerbaijan has denied the information and claimed that the allegations of provocative actions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the conflict zone are false. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported no loss to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and rest the responsibility for the deaths of two Karabakh soldiers with the Armenian side.
"We are concerned about the violation of ceasefire in the region," said Jen Psaki, the spokesperson for the US Department of State on January 5. She has added that the United States call on Armenia and Azerbaijan to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through peaceful negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group, the "TASS" reports.
It should be noted that since the beginning of 2015, the Karabakh conflict sides daily accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.
