Azerbaijan arrests ten citizens suspected of involvement in warfare in Syria
Ten alleged members of warfare in Syria have been arrested in Azerbaijan. They were charged with the creation of illegal armed formations (IAFs) and participation therein.
"Investigators have established that in 2014 Elkhan Mustafaev, Bakhruz Rasulov, Kamran Azizov, Nadir Alikhanov, Bakhtiyar Shakhbazi and his son Bakhruz Shakhbazi, Sadig Mukhammedzade, Rahim Gadjiev, Vidadi Sultani and Ramil Aslanov illegally entered the territory of Syria, where they underwent radical religious and military training as IAF members. After the training, the above citizens of Azerbaijan participated in hostilities in Syria as members of the IAFs, non-authorized by the legislation of Syria and Azerbaijan," says the PR Department of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani citizens get to Syria and other hot spots under the influence of propaganda of radical religious teachings, whose victims are young people, said Tofig Tyurkel, an expert of the "Turan" News Agency.
According to his data, based on media reports, over 100 citizens of Azerbaijan have already perished in the Syrian warfare.
