Action "Christmas in captivity" held in Sochi IVS in Matsesta
Today, a charity action "Christmas in captivity" was held at the temporary detention facility (IVS) in the Sochi district of Matsesta. Activists congratulated the detainees on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas holidays and gave gifts to them.
The action "Christmas in captivity" was organized by activists of the Sochi city public organization "Mercy to those who are convicted", believers of the Orthodox parish of the Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, and employees of the Sochi UVD (Interior Department).
"Members of our organization, many of whom in the past were convicts and prisoners themselves, know that bad people do not exist. Some people are strong, while others are weak. Those weaker in spirit may be tempted to commit a crime and a sin," Vladimir Gavrilin, one of the initiators of the action and a deputy head of the public organization "Mercy to those who are convicted", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his story, "if a person repents and wants to start a new life, he or she is in a great need of support, attention, understanding and good advice." "That's why for almost 10 years, our organization, which helps people who lost their way in life to regain the right track, comes to prisons and detention centres to congratulate convicts and detainees on holidays – the Christmas or the Easter," he said.
