11th humanitarian convoy arrives in Donbas from Rostov Region
More than 120 trucks of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) have brought another batch of humanitarian aid to Donetsk and Lugansk. Residents of South-Eastern Ukraine have received foodstuffs, medicines and other essentials.
The total weight of humanitarian goods makes over 1400 tons. Currently, the trucks are being unloaded, said Oleg Voronov, the spokesman of the Russia's MfE.
"Over 60 trucks have brought over 700 tons of humanitarian aid to Donetsk, including foodstuffs, namely, canned food and cereals, as well as medicines, daily necessities and Christmas gifts for children. Lugansk has also received more than 60 trucks with over 700 tons of humanitarian aid," the "Interfax" quotes Mr Voronov as saying.
According to his story, the convoy had to move in difficult weather conditions; "in some areas the temperature was as low as minus 27 degrees."
The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly stressed the illegality of humanitarian convoys. In particular, Ukraine treated the first shipment of Russian humanitarian aid in late August of 2014 as an illegal penetration into its territory. The content of convoys remains unknown; and under the guise of humanitarian aid Russia may ship weapons, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on November 16.
