On January 5-11, at least five people fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week from January 5 to January 11, 2015, at least five persons suffered from the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; of them, three persons were killed and two others were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The death toll includes two law enforcers and one person suspected of involvement in the armed underground – all of them in Dagestan.
Attacks on power agents
On January 6, in the village of Oktiabrskoe, Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, unidentified persons opened fire at a police outfit. As a result, two policemen were killed; and two others were wounded. During the operative-search actions, policemen blocked the car of the suspects of the attack on a country road near the village of Kemsiyurta; one of the attackers was killed during a shootout. He was identified as Magomed Gamzatov, born in 1984, a resident of the village of Novogagatli in the Khasavyurt District. Later, policemen found an improvised explosive device (IED) in his household. At night on January 7, the IED was liquidated; and the household was partially destroyed by the explosion.
