In Nalchik, SC completes examination of evidence in case of Alexei Makoev killed in special operation
The Supreme Court (SC) of Kabardino-Balkaria has completed the examination of evidence in the case of Alexei Makoev, a resident of Chegem, killed during the special operation carried out on April 30, 2013, in the vicinity of the village of Khasanya. The SC started to question witnesses in the case.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the consideration of the Alexei Makoev's case was started by the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria on November 12.
At the earlier court sessions, the SC questioned two fighters of a special rapid reaction unit, who told the details of the special operation, during which Alexei Makoev was killed. Relatives of the killed man said that they never noticed anything suspicious in Alexei Makoev's behaviour; however, one day he complained about being watched from an unknown car.
It should be noted that such trial into the killing during the special operation is being held in Kabardino-Balkaria for the second time. The first trial considered the murder of Biaslan Djaboev, a son of well-known coach Sergei Djaboev. According to the court's decision, Biaslan Djaboev was acquitted of charges of involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs); however, the court upheld charges of arms trafficking and attempted murder of law enforcers.
