Mother of detained resident of Dagestan cannot establish her whereabouts
Raziyat Isabekova, a resident of the village of Novokayakent, Kayakent District of Dagestan, states that she cannot find his daughter Saida Khalikova, who was detained last December.
On January 12, the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy) was approached by the above Isabekova, who asked to help her to find her daughter Saida Khalikova, the "Caucasian Knot" was informed at the DRPO.
"According to her relatives, Said Khalikova is accused of financing militants. Relatives possess information that she may be kept in one of SIZOs (pre-trial prisons) in Moscow," said the DRPO source.
As stated in the application of Raziyat Isabekova, Saida Khalikova's mother, the detention and search in her house in the village of Novokayakent were held on December 15 last year. The woman added that they were shown no documents justifying the legality of the above law enforcers' actions.
Saida Khalikova studied at the Medical Academy in the city of Astrakhan, where she had problems after she put on a hijab, said Raziyat Isabekova. "She was driven out of classes and ordered to bring her into a 'divine appearance'," she said.
According to relatives, Saida Khalikova was taken to Moscow for investigative actions; and she may be kept in the Lefortovo SIZO.
