In Armenia, Karabakh war veterans predict increase in number of incidents on contact line
The incidents at the contact line with Azerbaijan involve special services of Turkey. This was stated by Yuri Mikaelyan, the Chairman of the Union of Karabakh war veterans. Aragats Mkrtchyan, the Deputy Chairman of the Union of Karabakh war veterans, explains the tension on the contact line by political instability in Azerbaijan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenian has announced that on January 11, the Armenian Armed Forces prevented an attempt of a group of Azerbaijani soldiers to enter Armenia. As a result of the shootout, two persons were killed. On January 11, the Armenian MoD accused Azerbaijan of an attempt of a new act of sabotage.
The incidents that occurred on the contact line in the area of the Karabakh conflict were discussed at the press conference held in Yerevan on January 13.
"The Turkish authorities fear that the international community can recognize the Armenian Genocide of 1915," stated Yuri Mikaelyan, the Chairman of the Union of Karabakh war veterans.
According to Yuri Mikaelyan, acts of sabotage committed by the Azerbaijani side involve soldiers trained by Turkish instructors. The Chairman of the Union of Karabakh war veterans believes that in 2015, the Azerbaijani side will undertake acts of sabotage even more often.
In this regard, Yuri Mikaelyan believes in legitimacy of the order of Seiran Oganyan, the Armenian Minister of Defence, on the right to pre-emptive attack.
