Armenian investigating bodies entitled to run murder case of Avetisyan family, lawyers believe

The murder of six family members in Gyumri, committed by a suspected Russian soldier Valery Permyakov, occurred in the territory of Armenia and should be investigated by law-enforcement bodies of this country. The carrying out by them of investigative activities in the territory of the Russian military base is regulated by the agreement of the countries, said the lawyers from Russia and Armenia interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The Armenian and Russian parties shall jointly conduct an inquiry into the murder of the Avetisyan family committed in Armenia, said Shavarsh Kocharyan, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The society, in particular, the population of Gyumri, demand to punish the criminal in Armenia, said Levon Barsegyan, the head of the journalists' club "Asparez".

According to his version, the local people are already discussing the ways of attracting Permyakov to liability should their legal claims remain unsatisfied.

Let us remind you that on January 14, residents of Gyumri held a rally at the Russian Consulate and the 102nd Russian military base. Also, a protest march was organized at the residence of the President of Armenia in Yerevan. The protesters demanded from the Armenian leadership to extradite Permyakov to Armenian law enforcement bodies and remove the Russian military base from the territory of Armenia.
