Parties to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict declare ceasefire violations
Within the last 24 hours, Armenian armed forces have violated the ceasefire regime at the troops contact line in the Karabakh conflict zone for 51 times, said the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan. In its turn, the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) has reported about 200 cases of ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani party.
According to the MoD of Azerbaijan, the shelling was carried out on January 15 and the past night. The shelling was suppressed by response fire.
In its turn, the NKR's Defence Army reports an increase of tension on the frontline in Nagorno-Karabakh during the past night.
"According to operative data, at night on January 16, the opponent violated the ceasefire for 200 times and made over 2000 shots from calibre weapons made in the direction of Armenian positions. As a result of response actions of the advanced units of the NKR's Defence Army, the enemy's activities were suppressed," the "Armenia Today" quotes the statement of the Defence Army of the NKR.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 13 the Azerbaijani MoD accused Armenia of 75 facts of shelling within the last 24 hours. On January 14, the monitoring mission of the OSCE team on the contact line of the armed forces of the NKR and Azerbaijan was disrupted. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the NKR stated that the reason was in a shot fired from the Azerbaijani side. The latter accused Armenian militaries of starting the fire.
