Seven South-Ossetian parties demand to publish draft integration treaty with Russia
Members of seven parties of South Ossetia have appealed to the political council under the Republic's President demanding to publish the draft treaty on South-Ossetian-Russian alliance and integration. The ruling party has treated the demand as a PR-move, stating that the political council had decided that the final version of the treaty will be published.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the signing of the treaty is scheduled for early 2015. On January 12, the draft treaty on alliance and integration was approved by the political council and sent by the republic's authorities for approval to Moscow.
The Russian party has already made some changes and returned the draft; however, members of the political council under the president continue moving proposals on various points of the document, said Vyacheslav Gobozov, the leader of the "Fydybasta" Party.
According to his story, the treaty suggests that South Ossetia retains the status of a sovereign state; and Russia and South Ossetia will interact primarily in the field of defence and security, and in addressing the socio-economic problems of the republic.
The opposition parties have sent an appeal to the political council, saying that the process of preparing the draft for signing was overly politicized; and that the raw text of the draft, published by the media, was disapproved by the majority of the society.
