Parties of Karabakh conflict report series of shelling during the day

The military agencies of Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) have reported ceasefire violations on the troops contact line.

On January 16 and at night on January 17, the conflict zone recorded about 300 cases of ceasefire violation by Azerbaijan, said the NKR's Defence Army.

"The enemy made over 3000 shots in the direction of Armenian positions," said the press service of the Defence Army.

The report also says that Karabakh militaries took "the necessary measures to hold a reliable defence of their combat positions and gave an adequate response to the provocative actions of the enemy", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

In its turn, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced about 47 violations of the ceasefire, stressing that the enemy's attacks were suppressed by return fire, the APA reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 14, the shelling at the contact line of the armed forces of the NKR and Azerbaijan disrupted the OSCE monitoring mission. The parties accused each other of shelling.
