Residents of Gyumri commemorate Sergey Avetisyan by lighting candles

Today, the actions of lighting candles in memory of the deceased infant Sergey Avetisyan were held in the central Vardanants   Square in Gyumri and at the house of the assassinated Avetisyan family, said Vahan Tumasyan, the head of the NGO "Shirak Centre".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent his treatment in Yerevan. Today, the baby's condition has deteriorated and he died.

"People came, lighted candles in memory of the baby, but didn't stay for long... The whole Gyumri is petrified by the news of the baby's death," Tumasyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He added that on the day of the funeral of the baby, on January 21, a funeral procession will be held in Gyumri.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today in Freedom Square in Yerevan policemen initially forbade citizens to light candles in memory of the deceased Sergey Avetisyan, but then allowed them to commemorate the deceased baby.
