Court leaves Krasnodar activist Darya Polyudova in custody till February 28
Darya Polyudova, a participant of the action "For Federalization of Kuban", is to stay at SIZO (pre-trial prison) until February 28. This decision was made by the Oktyabrsky District Court of Krasnodar after it had considered the issue on the extension of the activist's arrest, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Court's secretariat.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Polyudova was detained on August 15 in Krasnodar on suspicion of disorderly conduct; and on the following day the court sentenced her to 14 days of administrative arrest.
According to Victor Chirikov, an activist and ecologist, today’s court session lasted a little more than half an hour. The investigator in the case against Darya Polyudova has asked the Court to leave the activist in custody.
"The investigator has told at the trial that Darya can escape from the investigation, since she does not have a permanent place of residence, a place of work, a family or children," Victor Chirikov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Judge Lyudmila Yakimenko has approved the decision to leave Darya Polyudova in custody.
"The Court has decided so quickly that the Judge did not even have enough time to get to her desk, and she announced the decision in motion," Victor Chirikov has reported.
