Gyumri residents hold memorial service for Sergey Avetisyan

The memorial service for the deceased six-month-old baby Sergey Avetisyan was held today in the Gyumri Church of Saint Nshan.

Six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated in Gyumri on January 12. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent his treatment in Yerevan. On January 19, the baby's condition has deteriorated and he died.

"Thousands of townspeople came to say farewell to the baby. The procession of those who wanted to say farewell to Sergey Avetisyan was several hundred meters long," Vahan Tumasyan, the head of the "Shirak Centre", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The memorial service was attended by Prime Minister Ovik Abramyan, MPs, politicians and public figures.

Let us note here that earlier the Church of Saint Nshan was used for the funeral of the members of the Avetisyan family; and the funeral procession on January 15 was several thousand people strong.
