Psychiatric examination appointed to Valery Permyakov, accused of massacring family in Gyumri
According to a source close to the inquiry into the killing of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri, the accused Russian soldier Valery Permyakov will undergo a psychological and psychiatric examination.
"Such examination is prescribed by the law for those who commit such crimes. All examinations, including this one, will be held in Armenia in the territory of the 102nd Russian military base," the "Interfax" quotes the source, who added that the soldier is defended by a Russian advocate, who lives in the territory of Armenia.
"Advocate’s name has not been disclosed yet for obvious reasons; he is performing his duties," the source said.
Let us remind you that initially the appointment of a Russian advocate was reported by Tamara Yayloyan, who had refused to represent Permyakov's interests. According to her story, some of her colleagues in Gyumri, who had been offered to defend him, "refused immediately."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent his treatment in Yerevan. On January 19, the baby's condition deteriorated and he died. A Russian regular soldier Valery Permyakov was arrested as a suspect of committing the massacre. The mass murder in Gyumri triggered a wave of protests after the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia said that Valery Permyakov, suspected of the crime, would not be given out to Armenian law enforcement bodies, since he is a citizen of Russia.
