Demand to extradite Permyakov to Armenian law enforcement bodies signed by 8000
Since January 23, 8000 people have signed the demand to give the Russian soldier Valery Permyakov, who is accused of massacring the Avetisyan family, out to law enforcement bodies of Armenia.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it today by Narek Aivazyan, one of the initiators of collecting signatures.
The organizers intend to collect 10,000 signatures. "All this is done to make the issue broadly public. This, in turn, puts pressure on the ruling regime, forcing it to act within the justice and the law," said Aivazyan.
According to his story, the protesters' demands "may be regarded partially satisfied," because "the investigation is already run by Armenian law enforcers." However, the suspect hasn’t been handed over to the National Security Service of Armenia, although it is provided for by the Armenian legislation and international treaties with Russia, said Aivazyan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent his treatment in Yerevan. On January 19, the baby's condition deteriorated and he died. A Russian regular soldier Valery Permyakov was arrested as a suspect of committing the massacre. The mass murder in Gyumri triggered a wave of protests after the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia said that Valery Permyakov, suspected of the crime, would not be given out to Armenian law enforcement bodies, since he is a citizen of Russia.
