Solo picket against hostilities in Ukraine held in Volgograd
Today in Volgograd, Boris Stikhin, a member of the International Union of Anarchists, has held a solo picket against the warfare in Eastern Ukraine.
The picket was held at the intersection of Heroes Alley and Lenin Avenue and lasted for 40 minutes. Stikhin held a poster demanding to prevent a Russian-Ukrainian war. According to his story, during his action he was timely replaced by his friend; and a passerby named Sergey expressed a desire to stand with a poster.
Passers-by reacted to the action in different ways, said the activist. "Two of them swore obscenely," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Mainly grannies came up and agreed with our position. Some said that Ukraine is blamed for the conflict."
According to Stikhin, four policemen approached him immediately after the start of the picket; they wrote down his ID details, and then left the venue of the picket together with the activists.
Boris Stikhin plans to hold similar pickets every weekend.
