Sister of Babaev who died in Azerbaijani colony disagrees with examination

Elshad Babaev, who was kept in a colony of Azerbaijan, has died a natural death, medical experts have concluded. However, his relatives assert that Elshad died from torture, while law enforcers fail to conduct an objective investigation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 22, Elshad Babaev, who was serving his term on charges of drug dealing, died in Colony No. 14 located near Baku. However, his sister insists that he died as a result of torture.

The medical conclusion on Babaev's death was presented by experts to his family on January 24. Simuzar Babaeva, Elshad's sister, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the experts' conclusion states that he brother died of a heart attack.

However, Babaeva has expressed her confidence that doctors have taken the position of those who hide the true reasons of her brother's death. She claims that the photos taken by her in the morgue show obvious signs of torture on her brother's body.

Should the criminal case be closed, and perpetrators remain unpunished, the family will go to court against the idleness of the prosecutor's office, Simuzar Babaeva has assured.
