Makhachkala: Envoy Melikov raises issue of preparing for celebrating 2000 years of Derbent
Sergey Melikov, the Plenipotentiary Envoy of Russian President to the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), is paying a working visit to Dagestan; in Makhachkala, he held a meeting with activists of youth organizations and NGOs, inspected the city health facilities and reported on the planned sitting in Derbent.
Sergey Melikov arrived in the capital of Dagestan on January 26. Accompanied by the head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov, he visited the Republic's Clinical Hospital and the Medical Centre named after Askerkhanov. The Envoy was interested in the status of enforcing the President's "May Decrees", says the message posted on the website of the head of Dagestan.
Melikov has also visited the Dagestani State Pedagogical University, where he met activists of youth and public organizations.
When touching on the issue of preparations for the celebration of the 2000th anniversary of the city of Derbent, the Envoy said that on January 27, major decisions would be made at a sitting to be held in this city.
"The Dagestani leadership does not refuse to celebrate the jubilee; and on September 15 this year in any case we'll celebrate the event, but we want to make sure that this date will mark a start of positive changes in the city," said Melikov, as quoted by the RIA "Dagestan".
