Society needs details of inquiry into murder in Gyumri, said demonstrators in Yerevan (+video)
The marchers in Yerevan have demanded a more active informing of the society about the investigation of the massacre of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri; they carried posters demanding to extradite Valery Permyakov to the Armenian party. Activists have accused the Armenian authorities of inaction in this matter.
The march demanding to give the serviceman of the Russian military base out to the Armenian Justice was held on January 26. It was organized by the initiative group "I join the demand", set up in the social network Facebook with the aim to collect signatures demanding the extradition of Permyakov to Armenian law enforcers.
As noted by Tigran Martirosyan, one of the marchers, the transfer of Permyakov to the Armenian party is not an aim in itself; it is needed for solving the murder.
According to his story, if the Russian side wanted to solve the case, it would have long ago answered the questions raised by the public about the motives for the crime, and how many people were involved in the murder.
Martirosyan also does not rule out that the murder was a pre-planned action aimed at increasing the tension among local residents and servicemen of the Russian military base.
One of the marchers doubted that the killer acted alone. He assumes that Avetisyans' neighbours should have heard the shooting, but are afraid to talk about it.
On January 21, Armenian investigators conducted an interrogation of Permyakov at the Russian military base.
