Court postpones consideration of complaint of HRC "Memorial" till February 12*
The Tver District Court of Moscow has rescheduled for February 12 the consideration of the complaint lodged by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" against placing the Centre into the register of "foreign agents". The court session failed because of non-appearance of respondents.
In July 2014, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the HRC "Memorial" was placed into the register of non-profit organizations (NPOs)-"foreign agents". After an off-the-schedule inspection conducted in March 2013, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office demanded from the HRC "Memorial" to get registered as a "foreign agent". The HRC found the demand of prosecutors, who found political aspect in its activities, erroneous.
On Tuesday, Judge Denis Ivanov from the Tver District Court decided to reschedule the consideration of the complaint, when it became clear that none of the representatives of the Russia's Ministry of Justice (MoJ) had appeared at the session.
*Correction of the "Caucasian Knot" from 28.01.2015 21.25 MSK: the consideration of the complaint has been rescheduled for February 19.
