Court leaves native of Chechnya suspected of Dubrovka terror act in custody

The Moscow City Court (MCC) has decided to leave Khasan Zakaev, 41, suspected of aiding the organizers of capturing the Dubrovka Theatrical Centre on October 23, 2002, in custody, said the press service of the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 17 it became known that investigators resumed the inquiry into the criminal case about the terror act committed during the musical "Nord-Ost" in the context of detention of the above native of Chechnya Khasan Zakaev, who is currently kept in SIZO (pre-trial prison) "Lefortovo ". Zakaev, who was on the international wanted list, was detained at an attempt to enter, on forged documents, Crimea from Ukraine. The Presnya District Court of Moscow defined his detention up to February 18, 2015.

Earlier, Zakaev's advocates filed a complaint against the extension of his custody; however, the MCC left it without satisfaction, the RAPSI reports with reference to the press service of the court.

Let us remind you that the charges of organizing the terror act had been presented in absentia to Shamil Basaev, Zelimkhan Yandarbiev and Akhmed Zakaev, but in June 2003 the Moscow Prosecutor's Office stopped the case against them in connection with their deaths.
