Russia's SC refuses to MoJ to liquidate "Memorial"
The Supreme Court (SC) of the Russian Federation has refused to satisfy the claim of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to liquidate the Russian Historical, Educational and Human Rights Society "Memorial".
This decision was made by Judge Alla Nazarova, despite the fact that the representative of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) insisted on liquidation decision, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
In their turn, representatives of the Russian "Memorial" have stressed the importance of their organization.
Let us remind you that the action to liquidate the "Memorial" was filed, after the identified violations of the Russian legislation and two warnings, to the Russia's SC on September 24. The court session scheduled for November 13 did not take place, as the leadership of the "Memorial" asked the court to postpone the session, as rights defenders had planned to discuss and eliminate the MoJ's claims. On November 22, the "Memorial" made the required changes in its charter; and on December 12 submitted the documents to the MoJ.
