OSCE to monitor Azerbaijan at background of ceasefire violation statements

The OSCE mission plans monitoring of the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops in the Gazakh District of Azerbaijan, since the parties in conflict report another ceasefire violation.

The monitoring will take place on the contact line near the village of Mezem of the Gazakh District. On the Azerbaijani side, the monitoring will be conducted by Chairman Jiri Aberle and Simon Tiller, the Field Assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Acting Chairman; on the Armenian side – by Hristo Hristov, Evgeny Sharov and Peter Svedberg, the Field Assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Active Chairman, the "News-Azerbaijan" reports, referring to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD).

In anticipation of the monitoring, the parties to the conflict have accused each other of breaking the ceasefire.

According to the Azerbaijani party, within the last 24 hours, its positions were shelled for 87 times.

According to the Defence Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), only last night, Azerbaijani servicemen violated the ceasefire for more than 300 times.

On January 14, at the contact line of the armed forces of the NKR and Azerbaijan, the OSCE monitoring was disrupted because of shelling.
