KBR resident sentenced to 3.5 years in colony for helping militants
The Elbrus District Court of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has sentenced a local resident Ali Djappuev to 3.5 years in a general security colony. Djappuev was accused of aiding the members of the "Baksan" criminal grouping, as well as of illegal trafficking in firearms and drugs.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 5, 2013, in one of the houses of the village of Zhankhoteko, power agents blocked a group of suspected militants. The active phase of the special operation resulted in killing four persons, later identified as members of the "Baksan" grouping. They also detained Ali Djappuev, suspected of aiding militants, who, according to power agents, sheltered the members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) and transported them.
When searching the Djappuev's house, law enforcers found grenades, ammunition, components for an improvised explosive device (IED) and narcotic drugs, the "Interfax" informs referring to the press service of the Department for the KBR of the Russian FSB.
Also during the trial it was proved that Djappuev supplied foodstuffs to IAF members and ensured her secret residence.
