Armenian investigators conduct genetic examination in Gyumri massacre case
Armenian investigators took assays of blood and hair from Valery Permyakov, who is accused of committing a massacre in Gyumri, for analysis.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent his treatment in Yerevan. On January 19, the baby's condition deteriorated and he died. A Russian regular soldier Valery Permyakov was arrested as a suspect of committing the massacre. He is kept under reinforced guard in the territory of the 102nd Russian military base. On January 21, Armenian investigators interrogated him at the base. According to the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia, Permyakov officially admitted the charges against him. He will undergo the appointed psychological and psychiatric examination.
Besides, a comparative forensic-biological, genetic and criminalistic examinations have been appointed. All of them are held in Armenia. The above blood and hair assays were taken for comparison with those detected at the crime scene, the "Interfax" reports, referring to the press service of the IC of Armenia.
At the same time, Armenian investigators said that they had not conducted the investigative experiment yet; although earlier Armenian media reported that Permyakov had been several times taken to the crime scene.
