Condition of advocate Murad Magomedov beaten in Dagestan remains grave
Murad Magomedov, an advocate of a defendant in the case of a terror act committed in the house of Sheikh Said Afandi al-Chirkawi, who was beaten in Dagestan, said he did not remember the time of the attack on him.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that advocate Murad Magomedov, who works together with the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", was beaten on February 4. He was attacked by several people in front of the Supreme Court of Dagestan in Makhachkala. According to his friend, Murad Magomedov himself believes the attack on him is connected with his involvement in the case of the explosion that killed religious leader Said Afandi al-Chirkawi and six of his followers. Murad Magomedov represents the interests of defendant Amirkhanov.
"Praise be to Allah, I am alive. Still, I am in a very ugly condition: my jaw is broken, and I lost my teeth. I do not remember what happened," Murad Magomedov wrote this morning on his Facebook page.
The physician who is attending the advocate has no doubts in speedy recovery of his patient. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" by Murad Magomedov's close friend. "However, the doctor has said that it is too early to predict when Murad will fully regain his memory," the advocate's friend has noted.
Officials from the press service of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have refused to provide details on the case of the beating and referred to the fact that the victim cannot yet be questioned because of the state of his health.
