NKR's opposition condemn incident with motor rally participants
The Public Council for Foreign Policy and Security of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic – NKR) and non-parliamentary parties have condemned the crackdown of the motor rally organized by Armenian oppositionists. They believe that the incident has spoiled the international image of the NKR.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 31, the supporters of the Armenian "Pre-Parliament", who took part in a propaganda motor rally, were beaten up in the territory of the NKR. The victims assert that policemen were among the attackers.
In the opinion of Andreas Gukasyan, a lawyer, an independent politician and a former presidential candidate in Armenia, who spoke to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, in the run-up to parliamentary elections, the NKR's ruling forces decided to use this violent action as an attempt to teach a lesson to the radical opposition.
The above Public Council has condemned "the violence used against citizens of the Republic of Armenia on January 31, 2015", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"The inadequate actions of the NKR's leadership have caused serious damage to the unity of the two parts of the Armenian people, and to the security of Artsakh, as well as questioned the positive international image of the NKR as a democratic and legal state," says the statement of the Public Council.
