Yerevan police detain "Pre-Parliament" activists

Gevork Safaryan and Ayk Grigoryan, activists of the initiative group "Pre-Parliament", were taken to the police in Yerevan right before their press conference dedicated to the disperse of the motor rally in the NKR. Three hours later, they were released.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 31, the supporters of the Armenian "Pre-Parliament", who took part in a propaganda motor rally, were beaten up in the territory of the NKR. The victims assert that policemen were among the attackers.

The detention of Safaryan and Grigoryan took place on February 5, when they tried to park their cars, damaged on January 31 in the motor rally, in Republic Square, where a press conference of the "Pre-Parliament" was to take place on the same day.

In the morning on February 5, the Yerevan Police issued a statement that the above press conference of the "Pre-Parliament" had been banned, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The event was still held after the activists were released three hours later. The participants of the press conference treated the attack on the motor rally as the initiative of the Armenian authorities, for which the NKR should not blamed, the "Armenia Today" reports.

One of the policemen who detained Safaryan and Grigoryan behaved incorrectly and threatened activists with his fist; however, activists were nor exposed to any violence, Gevork Safaryan said after his release.
