Co-Chairs of OSCE MG urge leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia to resume dialogue
The tension on the contact line of the parties to the Karabakh conflict stresses the need to resume the dialogue of Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan as soon as possible, the Co-Chairs of the Minsk Group (MG) of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) stated in their joint statement after they met Eduard Nalbandyan, the head of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), on February 6 in Munich.
In particular, they noted the need for "the resumption of presidents' dialogue" at the earliest opportunity.
"We urged the minister to show more flexibility so that such talks could begin," the "Trend" quotes the Co-Chairs, who also noted that "the growing number of incidents along the troops' contact line on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border" and discussed with Nalbandyan "measures to reduce the risk of such incidents."
In particular, they believe that "the parties should take measures to prevent any incident like the one with the helicopter that was shot down on 12 November 12, 2014." The Co-Chairs also considered important to implement the agreement of the parties for the exchange of data on missing persons under the auspices of the Red Cross, the APA reports.
