Opposition activist Khazbiev released from IVS in Grozny
On February 6, the police in Grozny released Magomed Khazbiev, the head of the Ingush branch of the Party of People's Freedom, from the temporary detention facility (known as IVS), said his advocate Khedy Ibrieva.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 30, Khazbiev felt bad in Grozny and was hospitalized. On February 1, according to Ibrieva, he was attacked in Grozny; however, he did not suffer; and on February 4 the opposition activist was detained in the Chechen capital and placed into IVS-1 of the Lenin District of Grozny.
On January 23, Magomed Khazbiev, according to the advocate, was detained for several hours by staff members of the Ingush Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). On January 25, the Ingush MIA reported that Magomed Khazbiev and his family members were suspected of stealing vehicles and storing weapons. Magomed Khazbiev treated the suspicions voiced by the MIA as political persecution.
On February 6, at 3:00 p.m., Khazbiev's detention term expired, and he left the IVS, Khedy Ibrieva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Then, Khazbiev was taken to some unknown place, since he is under state protection in connection with the attempt on him, said the lawyer.
Khazbiev's persecution by employees of the Ingush Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) began after his rather tough speech against the leadership of the republic, which was posted on the Internet, said Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the Ingush human rights organization "Mashr" and the author of his blog on the "Caucasian Knot".
He believes that suspicion of Khazbiev and his relatives of hijacking a car and illegal possession of firearm causes doubts, while his persecution has not judicial, but political character.
