Oppositionists state need for reform and change of power in Armenia
The need to change power in Armenia, including through early elections, was stated by the participants of the conference convened by Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" Party.
According to the party leader, the events in Gyumri, the aggravation of the situation on the border with Azerbaijan, as well as the price growth, "should show the authorities that the nation is on the verge of explosion."
He believes that in order to overcome the political crisis the country needs "a new quality of power", which should not be formed along party lines, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Along with that, the leader of the "Prosperous Armenia" has stressed that "in time of war, change the model of political system is inadmissible," same as becoming the cause of social and political upheaval."
In the near future, large tallies are planned all over Armenia, said Tsarukyan.
Rubik Akopyan, the head of the parliamentary faction of the "Heritage" Party, believes that the power should be changed through early elections to be held in the next few months.
At its next sitting, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) will discuss the Gagik Tsarukyan's statement and make their own one, the "News-Armenia" reports citing Vagram Bagdasaryan, the head of the RPA faction.
