FSB Department reports death of nine KBR natives in Syria
Since the start of warfare in Syria, nine natives of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), who fought for the militants, have been killed there, said a source from the Department for the KBR of the Russia's Federal Security Bureau (FSB).
In July 2014, Sergey Kamenny, the head of the above FSB Department, said that the international terrorist organizations operating in Syria included over 60 KBR citizens. By the end of December 2014, from 85 to 150 natives of the KBR were at war in Syria, said a source from the republic's law enforcement bodies.
According to the FSB source, up to 80 KBR natives are at war in Syria for the militants. Criminal cases have been opened against 28 of them. In total, 12 persons have come back from the zone of the armed conflict: three of them were neutralized, three others were arrested; others are being searched for. Eight other citizens of the republic have taken their trained in various militants' camps abroad, said the source.
According to his version, the republic may face an aggravation of the situation in connection with the return of militants trained in the camps of Syria and Iraq.
As stated by the FSB source, the dwelling settlements of the republic are covered by a "network of helpers, who are gathering information about employees of law enforcement bodies, state officials and the clergy."
