Resident of Dagestan suspected of taking part in Syrian war
The investigating authorities of Dagestan have launched a criminal investigation against a resident of the republic, suspected of involvement in the terrorist organization "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL).
According to investigators, in 2013, a 27-year-old resident of the Untsukul District went to Syria, where he underwent training for terrorist activities; and then took part, jointly with other ISIL members, in the war against the government forces of Syria, reports the press-service of the Investigating Department (ID) for the Republic of Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
The criminal case has been opened under the articles of "training with the aim to carry out terrorist activities" and "participation in a terrorist organization", the website of the ID reports
