Russia's MoD and Ukrainian militaries hold inspection in Rostov Region
The Russia's Ministry of Defence (MoD) is holding, jointly with Ukrainian militaries, an inspection in one of the districts of the Rostov Region. The aim of the inspection is to identify the extent of military activities in a certain area defined by the Ukrainian party, the Russia's MoD reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Ukrainian authorities began their military operation against armed formations in Donbas after the Russia's annexation of the Crimea and declaration of independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. The war zone is adjacent to the Rostov Region. The authorities of Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of shelling pre-border areas.
"Such inspections are carried out in order to determine the extent of the ongoing military operations, or to confirm the absence thereof within the specified area," says the statement.
The inspection is held on February 9-12 within the framework of the 2011 Vienna Document on confidence-building measures and security.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that since December 2014, the flow of refugees from Eastern Ukraine to the Rostov Region has increased. As of February 9, 35 temporary accommodation centres (PACs) housed 3890 people.
