Suspected militant killed in KBR
Last night, in the Urvan District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), a man was killed, who opened fire on policemen in response to their demand to stop his car for inspection.
The incident took place last night two kilometres off the city of Nartkala. Policemen tried to stop a car for inspection, but the driver opened fire and tried to escape; he was killed by response fire, said the Information Centre of the Russia's National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).
There are no civilian casualties and losses among law enforcers.
Firearms and an improvised explosive device (IED) were found in the car.
The casualty was pre-identified; according to power agents, he is an earlier convicted local citizen, who extorted money from entrepreneurs and was funding militants, the TASS reports referring to the NAC.
According to preliminary data, the killed man was a resident of Nalchik and was engaged in recruiting citizens of the republic for the warfare in Syria, the "Interfax" reports with reference to a law enforcement source.
